Dog Resort Policies & Requirements

At One Paw Away, our policies are not about restrictions—they’re about creating the safest, calmest, and most comfortable environment possible for every dog in our care. Clear expectations allow us to maintain a structured, low-stress atmosphere while giving pet parents confidence in how their dog is being cared for.

Below is an overview of what’s required to use our services and why these standards matter.

  • Before joining our daycare, boarding, or puppy kindergarten programs, all dogs are required to complete a complimentary evaluation. This short, appointment-based meet-and-greet allows our team to learn about your dog’s personality, daily routine, and comfort level in new environments.

During the evaluation, we walk you through the facility, review vaccination records, and conduct a brief behavioral introduction to help determine the best care plan for your dog. Pet parents are asked to remain on-site during this visit. Evaluations are not required for grooming services, as grooming is one-on-one and does not involve group interaction.

  • To protect the health of all dogs in our care, up-to-date vaccination records must be provided before booking daycare, boarding, or puppy kindergarten services. These include Rabies, Bordetella, and DHLPP. Grooming services require Rabies vaccination only.

These requirements are strictly enforced as part of our preventative health standards and help reduce the risk of illness within our facility.

  • Maintaining a safe environment means ensuring that each dog is placed where they will be most comfortable and successful. For this reason, we are unable to accept dogs with aggressive behavior.

Not all dogs are approved for group daycare, and approval is based on temperament, comfort level, and compatibility—not size alone. Some dogs may be better suited for boarding only or for private accommodations, and we are happy to discuss these options during your evaluation.

If your dog has recently stayed at another kennel or boarding facility, a seven-day waiting period is required before attending daycare or boarding at One Paw Away. This helps prevent illness and protects the health of all guests.

  • All services require payment at the time of booking, and a valid credit card must be kept on file. Daycare packages and boarding stays must be prepaid in order to secure your reservation.

We accept cash, check, and credit card payments. A 3.5% processing fee applies to credit card transactions.

  • We do not offer refunds for services. When cancellations are made within the required notice period, the full amount will be issued as store credit for future use.

For grooming and daycare services, we require at least 48 hours’ notice. Boarding reservations require a minimum of seven days’ notice. Cancellations made outside of these timeframes are subject to a charge of 50% of the total service.

Daycare package members are eligible for flexible same-day cancellation.

  • To ensure consistent care and staffing, our operating hours are strictly enforced. Pickups that occur up to 15 minutes after closing will incur a $50 fee per dog. Pickups beyond 15 minutes result in a $100 fee per dog and the addition of overnight boarding.

Traffic or delays do not extend operating hours.

  • For boarding stays, all meals must be provided by the pet parent and should be pre-portioned and clearly labeled. To maintain cleanliness and consistency, we do not accept bowls or bedding from home.

Refrigeration is available for fresh or raw food, and medication administration is offered when needed. Additional handling fees may apply for these services due to preparation time.

For stays of five nights or longer, a departure grooming service is required and will be automatically added to your reservation. This service begins at $85 and includes a bath, brush, blow dry, nail trim, and ear cleaning. Holiday stays require a two-night minimum.

  • One Paw Away maintains an overnight sitter on-site seven nights a week. Overnight staff monitor the facility, provide comfort and reassurance, refresh water bowls, administer medications, and offer overnight potty breaks and check-ins as needed.

This level of overnight supervision is a key part of our commitment to safety and peace of mind.

  • All grooming services are appointment-based and provided one-on-one. Dogs do not interact with other guests during grooming visits and do not need to be enrolled in daycare or boarding to receive grooming services.

Pet parents receive a text notification approximately 30 minutes before their dog is ready for pickup.

  • For safety and focus during evaluations and facility walkthroughs, tours are limited to guests age 18 and older. Children and babies are not permitted during tours or evaluations.
